I'll tell you what got me started on what I'm about to write about. Yesterday in English our class had a discussion about politics for part of our speaking assessment, so our teacher decided that a good subject would be politics as that is really the main issue in British news what with the election and everything.

So someone started us off with a point they had and the lesson was really interesting, especially hearing people's warped (well to me anyway) points of view about the war on Iraq. I'm so sick of hearing people go on about how Tony Blair led our country into war under false... (more)

Its been almost a year since I posted on here, not for lack of trying, just because I really haven't had time at all. I have too much homework and revision, lol. I still have lots but i thought seeing as its the first day of the Easter holidays then I'll update.

Well a lots been going on with me this year really. Its my last year of compulsory school, the last year I'll have to wear my uniform (get in!!!) and I have my GCSEs coming up. For those of you who don't know GCSEs are the exams we take in England in our last year of school and after them we can either go to sixth form/college or... (more)

I've just been reading something on the internet, an American girl said that she thought that one day Europe would come together as one big country like America, with all the different countries becoming the states. What do you think about that?

I don't really think it'll ever happen to be honest. In America everyone there has the same culture and values, whereas in Europe there are so many different cultures and languages that I think that would be a barrier to stop us ever becoming united as one country. I don't think that Europe would ever want to become one big country because there... (more)

I was reading through a couple of new comments I found when I came across a new comment about my entry about America. This person said that also America stereotypes Australians. Anyway it made me think back to about four years ago when my dad was working in Derby and he and an American guy were sending joke emails back and forward. My dad printed them off and gave them to me when I was eleven so I’ve decided to publish them. Please read, I promise you’ll find them really funny. Bear in mind they were written in 2000.

This poem was written by my friend from school, Jonathon Murphy, who has just recently broken up with his girlfriend and decided to write a poem about it. It took him an hour and a half so I think it deserves to be published. Hope you like it, please post your comments.

Ode to Siobhan

Siobhan we've had our ups and downs,

Our smiles, laughter, tears and frowns,

But now we're over, finished, through,

Lets look at our history from my point of view.

Let us go back to good old year 8,

Where your stories would severely sedate

Me and everyone to a state of snoring

Siobhan your... (more)

Is our country becoming a pushover?

Now before I start this article I would just like to clear one thing up before people start accusing me of being a horrible person. I am not a racist person, I have friends of different races and nationalities. I am merely trying to prove a point, and this is it. I truly believe that our government bends over backwards to keep imigrants happy and neglects to realise that they are ignoring our native people in the process.

Take Derby for example. Their symbol is a pig, and the local government decided to take down their statue of a pig because it might offend Muslims. I think that this is... (more)

I'd just like to say that I'm very sorry that I haven't been putting in regular instalments. I've had a lot of school work and revision to do so I haven't had the time to write anything. I'll write a new entry on Friday when my exams are over.

Dove advert on TV

Has anyone seen that dove moisturiser advert? The one with the realistic looking women instead of super models who obviously didn't need dove moisturiser to make their body look better. Well I did and there has been a lot of controvesy over it. There were the women who wrote in saying that it was good to see normal looking women like themselves on TV rather than a model who just makes them feel ten times worse about how they look.

But, shockingly there were people who actually wrote in to magazines complaining about the fact that they had used these 'hideous creatures' instead of someone... (more)

Anyone reading who is a teenager, like me, answer this question. Have you ever walked down a street and been blanked by old ladies when your going to the shop? Have you ever been told to split up from your group of friends because you were "intimidating"? I, for one, have had enough of being thrown in the same category as trouble making teens when all I want to do is walk through the village to the shop to buy some jelly babies.

I was walking through the park to go back home from my friends house and I got stopped by a policeman who blatantly asked if I was causing trouble and if I had... (more)
