Has anyone seen that dove moisturiser advert? The one with the realistic looking women instead of super models who obviously didn't need dove moisturiser to make their body look better. Well I did and there has been a lot of controvesy over it. There were the women who wrote in saying that it was good to see normal looking women like themselves on TV rather than a model who just makes them feel ten times worse about how they look.

But, shockingly there were people who actually wrote in to magazines complaining about the fact that they had used these 'hideous creatures' instead of someone people like to look at. That is the most horrible thing I've ever heard anyone say and with comments like that in magazines it's no wonder there are so many anorexic and bulimic teens, and adults, in society. Why should people feel like they have to conform to what TV and magazines say they have to look like? What, we all have to be size 8 or we're a social outcast? It's physically impossible for the majority of us to have a body like a supermodel because that just isn't the way our genes work. Most super models are either naturally 'perfect' or are on some sort of mad diet to keep them looking like that.

And who decided what was perfect anyway? Just because we aren't size 8 why is it that we are considered fat or abnormal?

However, I have a feeling that skinny isn't going to be considered perfect for much longer. What with TV, for example the dove advert, finally accepting the size of normal women people surely can't keep seeing super models as 'normal' anymore? Because it isn't, if anyone in this world has an abnormal body size it is them because they are a few of the minority of people in the world who look like that and probably have a hard job to stay like that.

I, for one am glad to be the size I am and not have to work very hard to keep it like that. Why would I want my life taken over by a crash diet. No thanks, I'm not that sad.
