I was walking through the park to go back home from my friends house and I got stopped by a policeman who blatantly asked if I was causing trouble and if I had any drink on me. I was on my own for crying out loud and where the hell did he think I was going to hide drink, under my tshirt? I had a sacarstic remark all ready to answer him with but then I thought maybe not. That's the stupid thing though. I don't see why I should have worried about answering him back when he was the one in the wrong, asking me questions when all I was doing was walking through the park. Oh, but if I had I would have been the trouble maker. I understand he had a job to do but there were planty more much more suspicious looking people in the park so why did he target me? Because I'm a teenager of course and only teenagers have the ability to cause trouble, right? I'm so sick of society thinking that all teenagers drink and smoke and do drugs and terrorise old ladies. And you know who gives us this bad name. Townies, that's who. All us law abiding teenagers have to put up with rules that have only been put there to try and stop townies causing trouble. It's not enough that we have to put up with them making fun of our dress sense and taste in music, but now we have to put up with them ruining our lives because they can't grow up. So if any of you sterotypical people are reading, which I doubt you are because you wouldn't exactly give me a lowly teenager the time of day, then maybe you might think twice about who you question and who you blank in the street in future. |
| Pat July 20, 2004 10:14 AM PDT Well I'm not a teenager or sterotypical and am reading and I agree totally. There was an interesting piece on the Today programme yesterday about the new anti-social behaviour laws which was prefaced with a piece by Claire Fox from the Ideas Institute. Her point (and I know this is fact) was that crime hasn't actually increased but more behaviour is being criminalised which increases the perception that things are worse and creates fear in people. The new ASB proposals will just fuel this. | ||
