Does the Catholic church have the right to persecute women?
Now I'm sorry if any of you readers disagree with me but it seems to me like women in the Catholic church get the rough end of the deal. Why is it that Catholic women who divorce can not receive communion again but Catholic men who divorce can? Does it seem right? What have these women done that is so much worse than these men? Nothing that's what. So why is this considered fair?
I can understand that the whole point of marriage is to tell somebody that you will love them for the rest of your life but what if for some reasons that is not possible. Ok, maybe these women could have chosen better husbands but maybe these men were good people to begin with but then something went wrong. People don't just divorce for no reason. And also even if this is not the case what about Catholic men who divorce? Why is it ok for them to do it but not the women?
This may seem like a harsh subject to bring up but what about these so called celibate Catholic priests who take advantage of young boys? I mean these men are supposed to be our model for Catholicism and then they go and do something like that. Oh, but it's ok for them to deprive divorced women of communion. That is much worse than abusing an innocent child. (And the last sentence is meant to be ironic, just in case you weren't sure. I'm going to work on metaphor and simile next week!)
Another point I'd like to bring up is the fact that Catholics are not able to use artificial contraception. Apparently us women have a natural form of contraception at certain times of the month. Well would somebody like to explain to me why Catholic families are so big then? And also does this natural contraception prevent disease? I know you could tell me that I won't have to worry if I don't sleep around and save myself for a trustworthy person but what if the person I happen to like has slept around in the past or has had AIDs passed down to him by one of his parents? People can change, isn't that what the bible says? God forgives people of their sins, so why should someone who has had a bad past be deprived of sleeping with someone they actually, truly like if they are willing to change for that person? If a person has AIDs through no fault of their own why should they be deprived? It's as if this person is being punished for somebody elses actions.
If somebody is not ready for children, even if they are married, why should they have to put themself at that kind of risk when they shouldn't have to?
It's easy enough for all of these bible interpreters to go around making rules for the women, but has anyone noticed these interpreters were all men? Why do the rules that apply to women not applyto men? It's not right.

Does anyone read ELLEgirl?
Just wondered if anyone had read the latest issue of ELLEgirl. You might have heard of that singer Bob Geldof, well his fourteen year old daughter Peaches has got a column in ELLEgirl.
She is really annoying me because she talks like she is some noble person who is individual and has a mind of her own, yeah right! In the last issue she was going on about how people feel the need to be like everybody else but they shouldn't. Then she started going on about 'the uniform' you need to hang out at a certain place she goes to. Miss Sixty jeans and some designer sweater. Err yeah, she sounds so individual with a mind of her own.
This issue she is going on about how she has never met a girl these days who is completely happy with how they look. She said people should just accept the way they are. Well that's easy coming from Miss blonde hair, blue eyes and stick thin. She acts like she is the only girl who has accepted herself as a person. Oh yeah, self acctualisation at the age of fourteen. I don't think I've even achieved that and I'm a year older than her.
I think ELLEgirl should get a new columnist because I don't really feel like being preached at by her about morals and accepting myself when it is very easy for her to say that.

What is a 'British' accent?
Ok, I'd just like to know how many films you've watched and sat their absoloutly stunned out of your mind at the incompetence of the way the Americans 'think' we talk. Are they completely stupid? Firstly they get the actor or actress to talk 'posh', which hardly anyone in England does by the way, and secondly the actor or actress can't even pull off a 'posh' english accent.
I have several examples of this. Did anyone watch the last series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? That potential slayer who was 'supposed to be' British, I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND A WORD SHE WAS SAYING! AND I'M NOT JOKING EITHER! Is anyone watching the latest series of Dawson's Creek, that women they've got playing the British girl Emma. Dear God! I mean her accent's good but do the Americans seriously think we use the word 'bloody' all the time?! Another great example, Lindsay Lohan in 'The Parent Trap'. It would have been a convincing accent if she hadn't gone just slightly over the top with words such as 'woosy'.
Oh yes and there is the other accent the Americans seem to think we all have. According to them we all either come from the queen's 'hood' or we all come from the East End.
In that movie 'What a Girl Wants' it just goes to show what the Americans think of us. They think we're uptight, posh and don't know how to have fun.
Well I've got news for you Americans. You think just because you're a 'World Power' you can go around thinking you're the best thing since sliced bread and that you have the right to sterotype people.
Maybe you should visit England and then you might realise how wrong you are about us.

Homework, is it really fair?
It was a conversation I had today that got me thinking about this. I don't know if any of you even think about it but have you noticed that we spend basically all our lives doing homework. We spend six hours a day at school and then when we get in from school and just want to go to bed but we have another four hours of homework. This is the first time I've been on the internet all week for something that wasn't school related.
The thing that gets me most annoyed about this is that my parents and my friends parents even admitted that they never had the amount of homework that we get. So why is it that adults think it is completely fair that we should get so much work?
Isn't being young supposed to be about having time to enjoy yourself? I, and a lot of people I know, end up being up until ten or eleven at night doing work. Teachers expect us to be alert and listening carefully in thier lessons but how do they expect us to concentrate when we get no sleep?
I think that if we were just given the evenings after school to do what we wanted to then the teachers would probably find that they had better students.
I don't know whether this is just some bitter thought I have because of the amount of homework I get, but I really think that some adults are just jealous of the fact that they aren't young anymore and they want to wreck our youth to make themselves feel better about it. By some adults I don't mean parents by the way because I know they want us to do well, but I mean teachers and the government who are so keen to give us homework.
Have you also noticed that teachers don't consider the possibility that we could have homework in other lessons and still expect us to have thier subject as a priority? It's not right if you ask me.

Popular: Liked by aquaintances, sought after for company.
This is the definition of popular in the dictionary and no one actually realises that anymore. At school we accept the popular group but no one ever seems to realise that if we were using the true meaning of popular that's not what we would be calling them at all.
They bully people and are nasty to everyone who is not 'cool'. I'd just like to know who decided what cool was. If you're an individual and have your own personality rather than just following everyone else you are considered weird and get made fun of.
If anyone disagrees with me I'd like to hear your reasons because it'll be cool to hear another point of view.
Another thing I'd like to talk about is something I read yesterday. This girl basically said that she doesn't believe that it's the media and skinny celebrities who make young girls feel fat, it's the people who call them fat.
Is she completely insane?! Where dooes she think the nasty people who call others fat get their ideas of what a person should look like. That's right, the media and skinny celebrities.
That's all I have to say about that really.
Anyway tell me what you think.
Hey anon in Darlington (you know who you are) I know I said I was gonna talk about world issues but I couldn't think of any so this is the closest I could think of.

I used to love bands such as Destiny's Child and TLC and The Spice Girls etc. when I was 11 and although I still like Destiny's Child, when I think about it my music taste has changed loads over the past 5 years.
When you're a kid you're influenced by the media and you just like what's fashionable and what all your friends like. That's how most of us ended up with all three Spice Girl Albums, platform trainers, jelly sandles and those spawn of satan little electronic toys, the furby.
Now, at the age of 15, I look back at the photos and look through my CD collection and suddenly say to myself "What the hell was I thinking?!"
I now love bands such as New Found Glory, American Hi Fi, Blink 182, No Doubt, The Donnas and many more. I don't know why my taste in music changed so dramtically but I know that I appreciate music way more than I used to. I can actually buy a CD now and never get sick of it.
The reason I decided to bring up music is because I feel like now that I don't like mainstream music everyone is judging me. It's like our form Christmas party in year nine, we spent the whole afternoon listening to dance and rave music just because noone was brave enough to go up to the 'popular' group and tell them that it wasn't fair, it was our Christmas party too and that we should be allowed to have some say in the music.
Not that anyone would have listened to me because even if they'd let us listen to our music we would have probably ended up listening to Misteeq, Britney or Christina Aguilera, because even in my group of friends I'm sometimes judged by the music I listen to.
I don't see why I should be made fun of for the bands I like. I might hate Britney just as much as my mates hate Blink 182 but i don't go round forbidding them to listen to it at parties and telling them how crap their taste in music is.
A note to you people who judge me. Have you ever noticed that the bands you listen to are so talented that they can't write their own songs, can't sing live, can't play instruments and have to have a stylist to tell them what to wear. All my bands can do those without help so they must be crap and talentless!
And in closing can I remind you that just because some of us like rock music does not mean we are moshers or boggers.

Heya everyone. This is my new page where i'm just gonna tell you about my opinions on stuff. Thats about it really. I thought today i might do some movie reviews cos i've seen so many lately i feel as though i should give my opininon on them to u people who were wondering what movies you should and shouldn't rent.
Sweet Home Alabama
This was about a girl who is a fashion designer in New York and is proposed to by her boyfriend, who is the mayor's son. Only problem is she's already married to someone in Alabama where she comes from. So she goes back to get a divorce from the guy who she has been married to for seven years. But he turns out not to be the complete idiot she makes him out to be, so you predict what happens next. I thought it was good, except for the over use of names such as 'Bobby Ray' n 'Billy Joe'. You no someone should teach those American twits that it's not very nice to sterotype people.
Thirteen Ghosts
This movie is about a family who recieve a mansion when their uncle dies. Only the house turns out to be a machine he made, out of glass, to release thirteen ghosts into hell. ?. The person who came up for the idea with this film is pretty imaginative. It was quite confusing, but once you get into it it kinda makes sense. It's not one of those movies eg Sweet Home Alabama, that you can just walk in on half way through and no what's going on. If you like gory movies and don't really care about storylines then this movie is for you. Otherwise it's ok. It might be better if its soundtrack was anygood.
A Walk to Remember
It's about this guy who is in the popular group at school and he gets into massive trouble for getting this other guy injured by making him jump off this tower as a kind of initiation into his group. His punishment is to do all these extra curricular activities and he meets the school geek and falls in love with her. Only she fails to mention she has leukemia until a week into their relationship. Okay, one, are all the people blind or just plain stupid?! Anyone can see that Mandy Moore is hardly the ugliest, geekiest girl known to man. In fact, she's the exact opposite so why do they insist on being such complete idiots, the directors i mean. God, cast someone realistic instead of some supermodel you've stuck in granny clothes. I find it very insulting that movie makers assume that geeks have no fashion sense and love nothing better than to raid their grandmother's wardrobe for the latest trends. Secondly, i hardly think "don't fall in love with me" qualifies as a good joke, infact it sucks. Why the hell would you say that to somebody? Exactly, you just wouldn't. One good thing about this movie though was Shane West. Nuff said.
Final Destination 2
Seven more people cheat death and he comes back to get them. Very good but also just an excuse for the writer to come up with elaborate death scenes. Although the storyline was clever.
K well i'll be back later to talk about music probably.
