I'll tell you what got me started on what I'm about to write about. Yesterday in English our class had a discussion about politics for part of our speaking assessment, so our teacher decided that a good subject would be politics as that is really the main issue in British news what with the election and everything.
So someone started us off with a point they had and the lesson was really interesting, especially hearing people's warped (well to me anyway) points of view about the war on Iraq. I'm so sick of hearing people go on about how Tony Blair led our country into war under false pretences etc etc bla bla bla. Even if Saddam didn't have weapons, which I doubt very much being the maniac that he is and what with the fact that most of our world leaders actually sold the weapons to him, why are we still complaining. We saved a country's citizens from the lives of fear and terror they were living in. Doesn't anybody realise that Saddam was an evil dictator, torturing and killing his people if they dared go against him?
I'm so sick of anti-war protestors, living in Sedgefield around election time we get a lot of them. We've even got some wacky people claiming that 9/11 was a set up by Bush and Blair so that we could declare war on Iraq, we had the DVD "evidence" posted through our doors and everything.
I'd just like to say to you anit-war people get a life. Where were you protesting when Saddam carrying out his outrageous behaviour? You didn't start complaining then, but as soon as someone goes in to sort it out your suddenly all high and mighty claiming war is wrong, well what else would you suggest then? Because I certainly can't think of another way we could have helped the people of Iraq.

I know what you mean, and Saddam was an awful leader etc but have you seen Farenheit 9/11? That puts across some good points about why we may have gone to war and they were nothing at all to do with us wanting to help the people of Iraq. It seems to be more about money, sadly ): |
